From a Nashville area collection comes this attractive and distinctive 19th century single shot Rifle. Manufacturer was Frank Wesson Worcester Mass, so marked on the upper barrel flat. Patent markings, below the manufacturer, read Pat’d Oct. 25, 1859 and Nov. 11, 1862. Model is Two Trigger, referring to the forward breech break trigger beside the actual trigger. Chambering is .38 Rimfire. Barrel is 24 1/4 inch Octagonal, .863 diameter with pentagonal bore from its five groove rifling. Sights are original dovetailed blade front and raised notch type rear, with an additional aperture tang sight. Serial number is 400s range, manufactured some time between 1863 and 1876. Finish has generous amounts of original bluing on the barrel, elsewhere brown and gray. Bore is bright and clean with only a few etchy spots near the muzzle. Mechanism is operable and tight. Stock has only one hairline crack underside behind the tang. We rate this rifle as Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
