This listing is for the exact revolver in the photos. From Security Duty in New England comes this attractive Taurus model 85 snub in traditional Brushed Stainless finish. Manufacturer was Forjas Taurus of Porto Alegre Brazil, and Importer and warrantor is Taurus International of Miami, and so marked. Type is traditional double and single action pocket revolver. From its FE serial number prefix, this Taurus was manufactured in May of 1986. Construction is entirely steel metal. Grips are Brazilian Goncalo Alves wood, with center panel checkering and brass colored factory medallions. Barrel is one piece 2 inch full lug, six groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling. Sights are barrel integral .132 serrated ramp front sight. Rear sight is frame integral fixed notch. Note that the barrel and frame top are matte stainless for diminished glare. Hammer is MIM type .340 short serrated spur, satin finish with matching .315 serrated face trigger. Cylinder capacity is 5 rounds of .38 Smith & Wesson Special caliber ammunition, including +P loads. Note the Fourth Side Plate Screw beside the hammer, that current production Tauruses do not have. Ignition is flat faced hammer against floating firing pin. The Taurus 85 has a transfer bar internal safety device. It does Not have a hammer lock like its current production successors. Weight empty is 22 ounces, with center of gravity at the rear cylinder face. Finish is polished Bright stainless steel, with hard chrome hammer, trigger, and thumb latch cylinder release. Surface detractions are moderate, principally edge wear and some lateral scouring. We rate this 85 as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate.
