Here is a rare High Standard. Nothing unusual about a Flite King, although its lightweight alloy frame is unusual. What is unusual is its chambering, .22 Short only, and its alloy slide. Manufacturer was High Standard Mfg. Corp. / Hamden, Conn., U.S.A., so marked on the right side of the barrel’s squared chamber area, above the caliber lettering. From its 1157000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1960. Type is blowback action rimfire semi automatic pistol. Construction is steel barrel, trigger, sights, magazine, screws, and internal parts with alloy frame and slide. Barrel is 4 1/2 inches with 1:16 six groove right hand rifling. Sights are welded blade front and dovetailed rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. trigger is .250 serrated face. Safety is left side mounted, engages the slide, for the right handed shooter. Magazine release is butt mounted. Magazine is factory and marked, but will only hold Short cartridges. Finish is brushed surface blued barrel, matte black anodized frame, matte anodized upper slide and brushed surface semi gloss anodized slide laterals. Grips are original brown polymer with left side thumb rest and with checkered surfaces. Length is 9 inches by 5 inches height, with .810 inch slide thickness. Rebound and mechanism are all functional. Surface detractions are moderate, principally edgewwear.
