Here is a well made, durable heat shield to fit the world’s two most popular 12 gauge riot type shotguns, the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500. Manufacturer is JTM Black Warrior Co., of Grand Prairie Texas. Construction is pliable vented black polymer, not as sturdy as the steel shields, but sturdy enough and most important, to separate the operator’s hand from a shotgun with a hot barrel. Finish is matte black. Mounting hardware is 4 steel screws with embedded brass eschutcheons. Mounting and placement is achieved with four blue steel screws that hold double mounting bands just back of the shotgun’s barrel lug in the front, and with dual retaining claws on the rear. This shield is designed for the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500 with standard bead sight barrels. It works well on the 870 clones marketed by Interstate Arms and H&R, under the brand names Pardner and Hawk. It will only work on Plain Barrel Japanese shotguns like the Browning BPS and Smith & Wesson models 3000 and 916. It will work well on older conventional pump guns made by Ithaca, Savage, and High Standard. The front face of the barrel lug that holds it onto the magazine tube should be no more than 12 1/2 inches from the front end of the shotgun's receiver; and there has to be clearance behind the lug, between the lug and forend. Only pump guns have that clearance. This shield will NOT work on a Winchester 1897 or clone because the barrel is too close to the magazine tube. It will not work on Small Gauge pump shotguns. It will Not work on heavy barrel Mossberg 590 shotguns, only on the standard barrel variant. It will Not work on pump shotguns made in Turkey. It does not take a genius to figure out that it will Not work on a shotgun with a Ventilated Rib Barrel. Each heat shield comes in its factory package with screws and anchor bands.
