From its 159-75000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1983, part of a production run that extended from 1972 until 1988. Factory catalog number was GS32. Type is traditional double and single action revolver with transfer bar internal safety device. Construction is entirely stainless steel. Barrel is 2 3/4 inch medium type, not full lug, with 5 groove 1:18.75 right hand rifling. Sight system is serrated solid rib that supports apinned in serrated blade front, with frame integral fixed notch rear. Cylinder is swing out with Ruger’s easy access thumb latch. Chambering and capacity is six rounds of .38 Smith & Wesson Special or .357 Remington Magnum caliber ammunitioninterchangeably. Trigger is .312 width smooth faced, with .300 serrated spur hammer. Weight empty is 33 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Grips are period correct Sile Italian Walnut, Finger Grooved Combat type. Finish is brushed surface stainless steel. This revolver comes from a service career in the environs of Air Station Borinquen in the Caribbean, successor to Ramey Air Force Base. It served in that key point for monitoring inbound and outbound movement from Castro’s Cuba. Note its agency markings on the right side of the frame, inside the frame’s top strap, and one line on the cylinder. Apart from those, surface detractions are moderate, edge and grip wear and occasional surface streaks.
