These grips are for Taurus Medium Frame Revolvers: models 65, 66, 80, and 82, chambered in .38 Special or .357 Magnum Calibers. Here are old stock grips for Taurus Medium Frame revolvers. Style is boot type that does not lengthen the grip frame. Manufacturer was Michaels of Oregon, under contract to a fledgling Vintage Gun Grips Company of Casselberry, Florida. Left panel bears inside markings of Vintage / V / Pats. Pending; Right Panel is stamped Byron’s Taurus 89, Patent Pending. We estimate manufacture date of late 1990s. Construction is two piece laminated synthetic rubber, with a hard inner panel frame and pliable exterior. Screw and embedded right panel escutcheon are both steel. These grips will fit, or be easily fitted to, any Taurus model 80, 82, 65, or 66 Revolver with a Square Butt Grip frame. They will NOT fit an old model, Spesco Import of other Five Screw style Taurus 80 or 82, because those have a different grip frame from the Tauruses manufactured after about 1982. Your Taurus should have a figure 8 style grip frame, not a wide open one; and the frame center should support the main spring and its guide rod. Since all Taurus 80 / 66 size revolvers manufactured since the mid 1980s have a .20 inch diameter grip frame butt pin, we have opened all our grips’ recesses to .20 inch, up from the original .14 inch cavity. These grips leave the Taurus revolver at its 5 inch height instead of 5 1/4 to 5 1/2 inch with the current production extended grips that ship on those Tauruses nowadays. Their contour leaves two finger grooves and an exposed back strap, with molded lateral checkered panel areas. Thickness installed measures 1.25 inch vicinity, against the long grips’ 1.30 thickness. Grip circumference is considerably less than the stock Taurus issue number 4-309 grips that come on the Tauruses. Each set comes in a plain generic zip lock bag with an incorrect 85/605 label. None of them have been on a revolver that has been fired with them on it. Replacement pricing on Taurus grips is upwards of $30 apiece or more.
