From less than a decade of service in North Carolina come these well maintained Smith & Wesson M&P 40 service pistols. Photo is representative, but buyer will receive a very similar pistol from the same Department. Dealers and Agencies may take any number of extra M&P 40s we have on hand at the same per-gun price, and with no additional shipping charges. Manufacturer is Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA. Type is locked breech, striker fired semi automatic pistol. Construction is stainless steel slide, steel barrel, magazine body, and working parts in a Zytel polymer steel reinforced frame, with polymer trigger. Chambering is .40 Smith & Wesson Caliber. Barrel is 4 1/4 inch with 5 groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling, and with loaded chamber port against the breech face. Slide is stainless steel, with lateral rear serrations, with a full length steel guide rod. Sights are factory Novak steel night sights, dovetailed front and rear, and drift adjustable for windage only. Frame also incorporates a 3 slot Picatinny rail. Trigger is .350 two piece smooth faced, 7 1/2 pound vicinity consistent pull with .300 inch travel and with overtravel stop. Magazines are steel bodied with steel spring and inner plate; and with black polymer floorplate and cartridge follower. Each holds 15 rounds of .40 S&W caliber ammunition, so 15 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Grip frame front strap is stippled surface, with matching replaceable back strap. This M&P 40 variant has a firing pin safety, a trigger safety, and a magazine safety. It will NOT fire single shot with the magazine removed. Weight empty, no magazine, is 24 1/4 oz; weight fully loaded will be a bit over 35 ounces. Overall length is 7 1/2 inches; 5 1/2 inch height; and very nice thin 1.2 inch width. Finish is bdurable black Melonite on the metal. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint edge wear. These are some of the nicest service pistols we've ever had. We rate them as Excellent Condition, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. These pistols were issued in 2006, and served until 2013 with the NC DPS traded for Sig .357 DAKs, of all things. We estimate each pistol was fired fewer than 500 times for annual qualification. Night sights are about 50% of their original strength, from our dark room inspection. We will refill to white dot configuration at no charge upon request. Each Pistol comes in its original box with two replacement backstraps, with instruction manual, fired brass envelope, Master Cable Lock, total of two Magazines, and a never executed factory registration card.
