Photo is representative, but buyer will receive an equal grade pistol from the same lot and date as the one in the photos. At press time on this ad, we only had 14 of these. Here is Star’s model Super B pistol in 9mm caliber. Lots of us think it was the best pistol ever made in Spain. Manufacturer was Star Bonifacio Echeverria S.A., city of Eibar. From their Q1 Date Codes, they were manufactured in 1972. They served with the Spanish Army until they were replaced in the early 1990s with the Sig Sauer P226. Left side markings include the slide stamp with Spanish Proofs and serial number beneath the lever. Right side stampings include matching Spanish Army numbers on the slide and frame, Spain on the right side, and importer stamping as required by US Law. Frame butt also bears the model number. Type is modified Browning 1911 single action semi automatic pistol. Construction is entirely steel metal, with factory issue polymer grips. Caliber is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Like its contemporary Colt and Browning pistols from the same production period, one is best served with round nose full metal case ammunition or Remington Hollowpoints with rounded bullet contours. Barrel and slide are 5 1/8 inch Colt Government length, blue steel with Tokarev type bushing setup. Rifling is six groove right hand 1:10. Sights are stake-on half moon low profile front and matching dovetailed blue steel rear combat type. Extractor body is visible externally, and slide is recessed for the breech face mounted loaded chamber indicator. Safety setup is main safety only for cocked-and-locked carry, with no grip safety. The Star safety, however, will engage with the hammer in resting and half cocked position. It is Series 70 style, no firing pin block, but it does have a magazine safety. Frame’s mainspring housing area is integral to the frame, not removable, with checkered serrations. The innovation to the Super B is its rapid disassembly lever on its right side, so designed to mate with the cammed barrel. Trigger is .238 serrated face, with .433 checkered serration hammer. Pull is two stage six pound vicinity, with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Magazine is blue steel factory Star. Capacity is 9 rounds, 8 + 1. Dimensions are 8 3/8 inch length; 5 3/8 inches height; .833 slide thickness at the port; and .744 frame thickness. Weight empty is 35 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the back of the trigger. Finish is blued steel slide, frame, bushing, and levers, with white sided trigger and case colored hammer. Grips are brown checkered polymer. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, finish freckling and holster wear. We rate this B Super and its mates as Good, 70 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate each pistol was fired between 1200 and 1500 rounds during its career, for annual qualification. Most, but not all, of our Super B pistols come with their Ejercito de Tierra identification tag. Replacement pricing on a European or US Made 1911 type pistol ranges upwards of $800 these days. We’re offering the Spanish Star Super B in the photos, however, or one of its very similar mates from the same shipment, each for only $ 269.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California or Massachusetts. Any ammunition or personnel showing in our photos are Not included.
